Klips ("the app") is designed with privacy in mind. This policy explains how the app handles your information.

Information Collected

Klips does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to the developer. The app has no account system and does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information. The only data that ever reaches developer-operated infrastructure is the content of Klips you choose to share, as described under "Sharing Klips" below.

Data Storage

By default, all data you create in Klips — your clips, folders, and folder groups, along with your recently viewed video history — is stored locally on your device.

You may optionally enable iCloud sync in the app's settings. When enabled, your clips, folders, and folder groups are synced through Apple's iCloud using your own private iCloud account, so they stay up to date across your devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud database and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). The developer does not operate this storage and has no access to its contents. Your recently viewed history is never synced and always remains only on the device where it was created. iCloud sync is off until you turn it on, and it can be turned off at any time.

Sharing Klips

When you share a Klip, folder, or selection of Klips, the app uploads the details needed to make the share link work: the Klip's title, a reference to the source video, its start and end timestamps (and segment list for multi-part Klips), the source platform, and, for folder shares, the folder or collection name. This upload happens when you begin a share, even if you then close the share sheet without sending the link. Nothing else from your library leaves your device, and nothing is uploaded unless you initiate a share.

Shared content is stored under a random, unguessable link ID with no account, device, or identity information attached, and is automatically deleted 90 days after the share is created. Anyone who has the link can view its contents until it expires, so avoid putting sensitive information in the title of a Klip you intend to share. If you would like a share removed before it expires, you can request deletion through the support page by providing the share link.

The share service runs on Vercel (hosting) and Upstash (storage). As with any web service, these providers generate standard server logs, such as the IP addresses of visitors who open share links, which are governed by their respective privacy policies (https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy, https://upstash.com/trust/privacy).

Third-Party Content

Klips lets you play YouTube videos within the app. When a video is played, it is loaded directly from YouTube, and your interaction with that content is subject to Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). The developer does not control or have access to any data collected by YouTube.

Analytics & Tracking

Klips does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies.

Children's Privacy

Klips does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The only information that leaves the device is the content of Klips a user chooses to share, and it is never linked to an identity.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
